With over 25 million business accounts on Instagram it is valid to ask yourself ‘how do I get noticed on Instagram?’. Today we will share some tips with you to make sure you have a foolproof guide to help you and your startup achieve your goals on Instagram!

Make sure your profile means business

There are several simple ways in which you can easily boost your profile in gaining the characteristics of a professional business. First of all, let’s make sure that your profile is set up as a business profile. Instagram has made it easy to set this up and made this an option in the settings of your profile. One of the advantages of creating a business profile is that users can easily see that you are a business due to the layout of the profile. The second (and most important) advantage is that now you will have access to all the handy business tools that Instagram has created. You will also be able to add additional information about your business on your profile page such as a phone number, email address and physical address.

A guide to how you can convert to a business profile can be found in the video below:

A great first impression goes a long way

When users visit your Instagram page one of the very first things they will encounter is your company’s bio and profile picture. Therefore, it’s very important to make a great first impression on people who visit your page for the first time.

There are only a couple of things to keep in mind when choosing the right profile picture. It needs to be recognizable right away. A logo would be a great option as it represents the brand. However, it is important that you make sure that the logo will fit inside the round box and has no small letters or drawings (seeing as your profile picture will have to be recognizable in a small size as well).

Your bio needs to be short and straight to the point. One glance at your page and the person seeing it should immediately know your brand identity. A great bio explains a little about your brand and the tone of voice should appeal to that of your target audience. Another useful thing to know is that the only clickable link you can share on your Instagram is in your bio. Some companies share a link to their website homepage while others update their link regularly to lead users to a specific page they are promoting at that moment. A new type of link a lot of companies have started using is Linktree. Linktree makes it possible for people to bundle multiple links into one link. Therefore, it would be easier to drive your followers to all your content instead of just one page.

Building an attractive feed

Your business feed should be representative of your brand and be cohesive overall in style. This is an important thing to do as a company because users will want to visit or scroll your page because it is visually pleasing. Therefore, more users are likely to follow your account. There are several ways which will help achieve this.

Images

This is where you get the chance to visualize the brand and make the feed match your business colors and overall aesthetics.

Fonts

When using fonts in stories or on an image on your feed there is only one thing to really keep in mind. What matters is that you are consistent in using the different fonts. Also, you might want to consider using the same font as in your marketing campaigns and other places, like your website.

Captions – Use them!

Captions are a great way to give Instagram users some extra information on the image that they are seeing. They are also a wonderful opportunity for your business to get your message across in words. You have a maximum of 2200 characters to your disposal. So, utilize it! Some accounts choose to micro-blog through their captions, while some choose a very short one liner. To encourage more engagement in the comment section some businesses choose to ask a question in their caption.

From the logo, to the fonts, visuals and captions, everything matters and leaves an impression on customers when it comes to your Instagram business account. It’s all the little things that contribute to the online presence and identity of your startup. Besides a platform that is easy to use and encourages you to be creative, Instagram offers much more benefits to your company, but more about that in the next articles!
